Fibroid treatment is based on a particular situation, such as size and growth. When the actual cause is identified, there are specific treatment options available, like birth control, oral therapy, over–the–counter pain medicines and Gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists. Another treatment option is surgery, as there are less invasive treatments like ultrasound and heat therapy available.

Usually, fibroid doesn’t cause any severe issues in the long run. But, it may create a profound impact on the quality of life, and it may lead to anaemia that can be exhausting. It may get more extensive during the reproductive years and create a significant swelling of the abdomen. Also, the effects of fibroid treatment vary from woman to woman.

After menopause, fibroids cause the same symptoms to pre–menopause fibroids. However, the women do not get menstruation and don’t feel the heavy period cycle associated with fibroids. They will experience intermittent bleeding, cramps, vaginal dryness and frequent urine.

The fibroid is felt differently by women in various ways. Some women never feel any symptoms at all, while others face issues relevant to it. However, the symptoms are prolonged and heavy periods, bleeding between periods, pressure in the abdomen and pelvic pain. Fibroids are discovered during a routine pelvic examination or incidentally noted on imaging.

The woman without any symptoms does not need any treatment but should be checked regularly by the doctors. If the women face any symptoms related to fibroids, then they have different treatment choices, including drugs and surgery. If the fibroids don’t create any issues, it is better to remain untreated.
